Overview
About Me
I'm an outgoing and sociable young lawyer, with a focus on international law and human rights. I like to have discussions about most things, be it politics, music, film, theatre, sport, whatever. When I get to a new city I like to climb hills without any specific plan, just so I can get to a high place and see the vista.
I'm from Ireland and have lived in three different cities there (Limerick, Galway, Dublin), in the Hague in the Netherlands, in London, and I'm now based in Bethlehem in the West Bank for a few months.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Right now I'm really keen to travel more, and this web-site seems like a really great way of doing it on a budget! A big part of the reason I want to travel is also to meet people and get to know places with them as people who live there and experience it differently from the standard tourist experience, which can be a little like pollution.
Interests
Like I mention above, I'm big into politics, sport (especially rugby and football), film, music, theatre... I enjoy reading but don't do enough. And I wouldn't be here if I didn't enjoy travel!

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music veers toward the indie side of things, with some favourite bands being Arcade Fire, The Twilight Sad, Vampire Weekend, Interpol, The Hold Steady, The Shins... But I try to be varied in what I listen to, and lately I've been listening to more hip-hop (Kendrick Lamar, Run The Jewels), and a little bit of punk (The Menzingers, At The Drive-In). Always open to hearing new stuff!
Movie-wise, I really will watch almost anything. The exception is probably really bad dumb-ass comedies. White Chicks, that kind of thing.
I read loads of fantasy and sci-fi as a kid, and still do sometimes nowadays (The Wise Man's Fear by Pat Rothfuss is on my bedside locker right now), but I've been dabbling in more literary stuff lately. Favourites include Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, So Long, See You Tomorrow by William Maxwell, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz... Lots, basically.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've addressed the UN Human Rights Council a few times! Which was pretty cool, if a little nerve-wracking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a gregarious guy and love talking about my interests and hearing from other people, so I guess the main thing I'd like to share is good conversation (cheesy, I know). Other than that, I could teach you a few words of Irish!
