About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make it out of Italy and to Spain.

ABOUT ME

Hey you,

Thanks for reading this, and ask me anything you'd like.

Profiles have never been my favorite way of communicating (maybe because I am not too good at writing them) but here's a little bit about me.

I attend Earlham college in Richmond, Indiana, and I just finished my first year. I went in thinking I might major in literature or English, but now I really have no idea. Currently I am in Alba, Italy at a music festival through a program from my school, and I've realized that I love learning languages. I took Spanish this last year, and I now have some Italian under my belt. Conversing in another language is a new-found joy for me and I'm always looking for chances to do so.

I have always been a person who does everything, but never truly excels at one. Serving food makes me even more happy than eating it, and seeing people have fun gives me joy.

Depending on the day, people mistake me for being 14 or 24.

I am a cat person, but dogs love me all the same.

I prefer maps to GPS's.

I have been playing the oboe for nine years, but I feel uncomfortable calling myself a musician.

It is hard for me to not be a perfectionist when it comes to things I am not as proficient in as I would like to be.

There is so much more than this, and I really do want to tell you all about me if you're interested.

PHILOSOPHY

Hubble. Richard Dawkins. I am culturally Jewish (what a loaded statement that is) but I have found in my life that religion just is not for me.

Other people feel, and empathy drives a lot of my actions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just starting to couch surf, and I am being spurred on by the fact that I no longer have a place to stay in Madrid in two weeks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never officially couch surfed, but there have been many times when an old couch has been my bed for a night. And, of course, A few too many times in the past I've woken up a little too hungover on one.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just finished Moby Dick!

George Orwell is my favorite essayist.

See "The Court Jester" for fun and "The Duelists" for pretty.

I am currently reading "The Wind Up Bird" by Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove from California to Indian with only a road atlas and the company of my father. When I get back from Italy, I will be driving from D.C. to California. That's a big feat right?

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the oboe, and have been learning Klezmer music. I will be happy to play and teach and jam with anyone.

I love food, and cooking is important to me.

I used to work as a techie in theatres doing lighting, sound, and electrical engineering.

I have an extensive knowledge of boardgames.
