About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Maya! I'm an actor, singer, musician, and writer living in New York City. I will be leaving the mad pace of Manhattan behind in late October '12 and traveling to New Zealand for the duration of the summer.

I've been a sort of nomad since birth. The first half of my life was spent living out of a suitcase because my parents couldn't decide in which continent, country, or state they wanted to live in. Now, as an adult, my performance career has taken me all over the States as well. Somewhere along the line I got addicted to living as an explorer, and have found travel to be one of the greatest loves in my life.

I'm an actor, so people and stories are my passion. I love love LOVE meeting new people, learning about them, laughing uncontrollably with them, and truly getting to know their ways of life. And it's fun to share my own ridiculous tales too!

PHILOSOPHY

I aim to treat my life as a gift, and the people in it as treasures. I want to touch, smell, taste, and breathe in as much of this earth as I can while I'm here.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am totally new to the CS community! Cheers!

Interests

MUSIC. THEATRE. ART. COFFEE!

So many many more. Literature. Dance. Yoga. Meditation. Conversation. Laughter. Tramping. Swimming. Photography. Running. Philosophy. Dogs. Farmer's Markets.

I am the happiest when I'm making art with people, whether it be music, crafts, conversation, or random sculptures in the sand.

Music, Movies & Books

Other than coffee, these are my life force. :)

One Amazing Thing I've Done

An Unforgettable Moment: I welcomed in this last New Year in Florence with my sister. We didn't know a soul and speak almost no Italian, so we just wandered the streets from dusk, people-watching and checking out the incredible architecture. As midnight approached, we walked to the Ponte Vecchio and watched as fireworks exploded over the river, ducked as corks flew from every direction, and laughed as we got soaked in champagne by total strangers. It was a perfect night.

A Moment I Look Forward To: I will be staying at an ashram on the Coromandel Peninsula for a short while on a silent meditation retreat. After living in New York City, definitely looking forward to just shutting up for a while!
