CURRENT MISSION

I'm on a personal quest to integrate the practical and the idealistic in my life. I'm a no-nonsense realist with lofty aspirations for myself and the world...an interesting and challenging combination!

ABOUT ME

Friendly and outgoing, with a propensity for word-play and really bad puns. :) I do have some sound sensitivity issues, but they're very specific (ask if you have questions)...this makes me a bit more of a hermit than I'd otherwise like to be, but within those limitations I love people, socializing, and deep conversations about Life, the Universe, and Everything. I'm an avid reader, a music lover, and an adorer of felines (I have two who pretty much call the shots and run my life).

PHILOSOPHY

Give everyone the benefit of the doubt wherever possible. People are generally good, and they're doing the best they can given their knowledge, experience, and circumstances. Just about any problem can be solved by open, honest and compassionate communication.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm living with one roommate in a very small apartment, so regretfully we probably can't host at the moment, but we have plans to move to a bigger place in the near future, so hopefully we can accommodate couchsurfers then.

In the meantime, I don't travel much, but when I do I'd much rather save the money that would be spent in a sterile hotel room and meet friendly people with interesting lives and stories to tell!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I'm really looking forward to diving in. (I've unofficially couch-surfed with many friends over the years and hosted them in return...does that count?)

Interests

I'm an avid reader (particularly fantasy), a tabla player (see my second photo), and a lover of cats (if you have any, that's a plus for me!)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an avid reader of sci-fi and fantasy (more the latter in recent years). Musically, I'm a huge Peter Gabriel fan. Also a lover of world music in general, and anything percussion-based. (I'm a tabla player myself.)

Befriending a camel on the Great Wall of China. (No, really!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an expert proofreader and copy editor with a good feel for writers' unique voices. I play the tablas (Northern Indian double hand drums).

I would LOVE to learn other languages!
