I'm an open book type. There's not a lot I hold back and what you see is what you get. I strive to be honest at all costs and work hard at staying in the moment. I can laugh my way through some of life's more challenging situations and humor tends to strike me at the most inappropriate times. I believe in progress rather than perfection and am an easy going, with the flow, kind of gal. I'd rather learn than teach but it's not to say I ever mind sharing my own knowledge. I'm addicted to "new" and a wanderer through and through. I have surrendered pieces of my heart all over the globe, but ask me where "home" is and I might have a difficult time answering. My current top three would be Maui, HI, Detroit, MI and Baja, Mexico. Each place makes my heart sing and has played key roles in my being today. If there's anything I've left out that sparks your curiosity, feel free to ask me (hence the whole open book thing).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For years I've used this website to see and be seen...so far so good! I Surf, host, interact, learn and inform. I've stayed on plenty of couches and am sure I will stay on plenty more...every couch has its story. Every adventure has its characters and I've been lucky to meet some amazing folks along my journeys and can't wait to find more. Couchsurfing has helped propel my travels down some incredible paths and guide me to the doorsteps of some of my best friends. As an avid traveler CS is one of my best resources and I truly rely upon and believe in this community as a means to keep this big, detached world small and friendly. I can't imagine why I wouldn't be on Couchsurfing.
Everything! Music, art, culture, festivals, food, cooking, photography, design, writing, yoga, exercise, people, nature, sustainable living, sailing, farming, theater, epic reads and views, meditation, education, all types of self expression, kids (best conversationalists), trading, biking, adventures into the unknown, animals, dancing, obviously traveling...so much more!
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: documentaries, dramas, psycho thrillers.
Music: easier to say I'm just not a fan of country, but I do love Johnny Cash.
Books: Pillars of the Earth, Four Agreements, In the Heart of the Sea, Conversations with God, Kitchen Confidential, A Confederacy of Dunces....Anything that holds my attention. I've started more books than I've finished.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Since I don't think I can pick just one, here's a list of some of the brightest moments: Burning Man, traveling Europe, fought a rogue Pacific wave while cliff fishing in Baja, Mexico (and won), surfing, skydiving, zip lining, held the Crow pose during my first week ever of yoga, taking the bus in Detroit, placed 3rd in the Nation in my division for the Junior Olympic Archery team, shared an elevator with Charlie Murphy...etc. No big deal, the usual stuff.
Teach, Learn, Share
...I can teach you to maintain your skull pelt for starters and I'm also a really good finder so if you've lost something I may be the one to help retrieve it (I was great at Eye Spy as a kid). I'm also an exceptional packer (mad Tetris skills). I believe I'm a well rounded individual and I've been told I'm blessed with an infectious smile and that I do well at lightening tense situations. Whatever I carry in my bag of tricks is always up for grabs and I'm happy to exchange. What's mine is yours...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can indulge you in stimulating conversation, create delightfully edible meals and even do the followup cleaning, give you quite possibly the best haircut of your life and help you explore your own city with a fresh pair of eyes.
