I quit my job working as a writer at a news station back home in San Diego and am traveling for as long as my money lasts! Life is too short to be stuck in an office for 45 hours a week. I love meeting new people, trying new food, talking about politics and movies and life -- and pretty much everything else. I'm a relaxed, open-minded person and I always look on the bright side :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Just trying to save money and meet local people at the same time. I didn't come to Europe to meet more Americans! I would love to make connections across the globe so that when I'm home again people can come stay with me.
- science fiction
- exploring new places
- vegetarian cooking
- independent cinema
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm quite the nerd, so we can definitely get along if you like Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones/Harry Potter etc. But at the risk of sounding pretentious, indie art house films are definitely my first love. Some of my favorites are Once, Like Crazy, Liberal Arts, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Moonrise Kingdom.
I also enjoy reading - whether it be a young adult novel or economic theory. Right now I'm reading Home by Toni Morrison-- Let's swap favorite books!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to see a nest of sea turtles hatch and crawl to the ocean in the Caribbean! It was like I was watching an episode of Planet Earth right before my eyes
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love talking and am always down to get to know the local scene! I can cook for you (I'm pescatarian but I can win over any carnivore) and offer you some good California vibes. I can show you some great indie movies, write you poetry, and educate you on feminist theory.
