To make some small impact on everyone I meet. . .I want to enjoy every possible moment.
I'm pretty fantastic. I'm usually late(the only thing I've ever been early for was my birth). I read like it's my job, and I wish it were. I'm currently plowing through Ulysses, To the Lighthouse and The Story of O. I love learning and expanding my horizons. I try to talk to everyone I can so people don't think I'm shy and boring. . .it's hard, though. I try to keep myself in a constant state of wonder at the world around me and completely appreciate and take advantage of every single moment and person I come into contact with.
Happiness is my goal. I love making other people happy. I think that everyone should be excited about life. Sometimes things suck, but I try to just keep on keepin' on and be a good little girl like my mama taught me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm currently only available for coffee/showing people around New York City or Jacksonville, FL (wherever I happen to be), but I'll do this gladly. Starting in August, I'll be able to host people on my couch (there might be an air mattress situation, which would be awesome for the surfer but...this is still in decision-making limbo).
What am I not interested in? I'm interested in everything, or, rather, I can find something interesting about everything and everyone. I'm interested in learning and talking to all sorts of people. I also am passionate about music and literature. I play piano, but...I'm not any good at improvising so I can't really have a jam session. I'm interested in anything funny, serious, confusing, wonderful or sad. I just love people, really.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love every book. My favorites are : Lolita, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The World Without Us, Mrs. Dalloway, The Hours, Random Family, Class Matters, Atonement, Through the Looking Glass, and probably anything else you put in front of me.
Music: Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, The Spice Girls, Jack Johnson, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, Idina Menzel, Bloc Party, Girl Talk, again---anything goes. I like almost all of it.
Movies: Breakfast at Tiffany's and Steel Magnolias---together, they represent the spectrum of my life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in New York City, basically on my own, supporting myself, is pretty monumental...it changed my life, but I don't think I'm amazing for doing it. It is what it is.
Teach, Learn, Share
Piano. Irish Dance. Literary Analysis (ha! I don't dare presume to be an authority on this). I also have all sorts of random knowledge tucked away that will show itself when the need arises.
I'd love to improve my French.
I also love languages and hate that I only speak two semi-well, so , please, teach me any that you know just don't laugh at me when I stumble.
