Getting lost in order to find adventure, embracing fear so that I can achieve peace, letting go that I may find something new to grasp hold of.
Recently returned to the US of A having spent the summer in Vancouver and Colombia, back to my home of wonderful New York City.
Kia Ora Bro!
I come from the country of New Zealand- which is not by Poland, Alaska, or a state of Australia as some people have asked me.
Instead it is at the bottom of the world, where, unfortunately we are not descended from Hobbits or Elves, live in trees and only speak Maori to one another (although I wish we were and did all these things!!)
People have at the same time called me immature and wise for my age, gullible and intelligent, friendly and shy, adventurous and a homebody. I'd say I am many and more of these contradictions, bundled up into an innocent but deathly combination of weirdness, lovable weirdness.
I am a very compassionate, and have been a vegetarian for seven years, but I am pretty chill about it (I won't yell bloody murder if you eat meat, that's just rude).
I am pretty passionate person but don't take myself too seriously, and have been known on occasion to dance on the street, talk in random accents and take random detours with the view that every new street is a new adventure :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed throughout Europe, central Asia and North Africa. Have had some wonderful experiences and hope to return the favour very, very soon!
I have met a plethora of amazingly generous, brave and interesting people, who are all a little bit crazy like me :)
Contemplating the world and the vast universe, man. Eating good food, meeting good people, exploring both the great and not-so-great aspects of life. Being in nature, watching films and documentaries and having a laugh.
Music, Movies, and Books
Everything 60s, The Kinks, Dusty Springfield, The Zombies, Beatles, The Who, Cat Stevens, Dire Straights, Etta James, Sting, Bowie, Prince (yes I was born in 1953). And as hipster bourgeois as this sounds I really like Icelandic music, for a tiny population they have an insane wealth of talent.
Movies- the weird, the wonderful, quotable-comedies and tear-jerkers. I cry often while watching movies, especially if they happen to be kids movies, i.e. Transformers and Happy Feet, really...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed the highest sand dune in Europe, then went to the Sahara for the real thing.
Drunk red wine in the quarries under St. Emillion, touched the belly of a sting ray and wore a boa constrictor.
Most recent adventure in Colombia led me to a motorcycle operated train cart to the crystal blue wonder of San Cipriano. Friendliest locals I have ever met!
Teach, Learn, Share
We can make poi, learn a waiata and make some money busking! I am always willing to share my incredible dance moves with someone.
