About Me

I’ve lived in the United States my whole life. I grew up in a small farming town in the North East, I went to school in a defunct factory town, and now I’m looking to make living a broad work for me. I am an English teacher at a university in Versailles until May 2018.

My housing situation right now is un peu catastrophique and I have not a lot of time to find a comfortable. more stable arrangement. I consider myself very easy to live with, I absolutely hate being a bother, and I try never to make the same mistakes twice.

I would be delighted to meet the many faces of France. No two people living any where are the same and learning about their lives gives me life. I believe that everyone has something to teach and I value observing and exchanging ideas with people. I speak English natively and I have a bachelors degree in French.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing to meet people and to hopefully find some place so can stay until I am more stable and on my feet. If anyone has any advice for how to live in France as a foreigner who is struggling with housing please let me know! I am happy to meet people and learn what I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Horror novels like the author Poppy Z. Brite.
Over the top movies with Cher in them like Moonstruck and Burlesque.
I love many types of music it’s hard to name just a couple bands but for now I really like The Mountain Goats and The Front Bottoms.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a volunteer with an AIDS clinic in the states and worked in the needle exchange unit. I was in contact with current IV drug users and their families and helped people understand and talk through the risks associated with HIV risk.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone has something to teach and everybody should be eager to learn. The best thing I’ve ever learned how to do is to listen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have been told that I am a very positive person and I have a great sense of humor. I am always afraid of being a burden to other people so I don’t require much. I can play the guitar pretty well and I’m more than happy to help out in any way I can.
