About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take in as much of the world as possible

ABOUT ME

I just recently graduated from school in Toronto, Canada and I'm now working as a nanny in the Netherlands for a lovely family with three boys. While most of my friends decided to head off to university right away, I decided I wanted to see more of the world before I could really know what I wanted to do with my life. Next year, I plan on attending college for culinary management as I love to cook. Until then, I hope to travel through Europe as much as possible. My friends and family would describe me as being very friendly and outgoing, polite, and inquisitive. I love learning about art, culture, language, and history.

PHILOSOPHY

I think you should never be afraid in trying something new and to always believe in your own independence.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I am away from home staying in someone's home (kind of like an extending couch surf, I suppose), so I wouldn't be able to host anyone. However, upon my return to Toronto, I would very much be willing to have people (hopefully the new friends I make!) stay in my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The closest I've come to an actual 'couch surfing' experience is by currently staying in the Netherlands with a family who's three boys I look after. Finding my family was a lot like how couch surfers find each other -- on the internet. I've gotten to experience so much Dutch culture through them and they've learned so much about Canada through me. I hope that others will be as kind by opening up their own homes and sharing their own cultures with me as well.

Interests

I love to ride my bike, cook, visit museums and galleries, wander through cities and towns, eat great food, meet people, and learn about different cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love listening to old Mo-town, electronic, and rock music.
Movies: I like a wide variety of movies, including: Pulp Fiction, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Dirty Dancing, Saturday Night Fever, and Tropic Thunder
Books: I'm in love with the Harry Potter series (it was a big part of my childhood), as well as: Stupid and Contagious, Lamb, and Sundowners.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While my lifetime has been fairly short, currently the most amazing thing I've seen is the Eiffel Tower. I know that that's a really cliche answer, but it's something I had wanted to see ever since I was a child. Finally getting to see it (albeit, in a very short amount of time) was really great.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my main passions in life is cooking. This is a good thing as I make meals daily for a family of 5 (including three extremely picky eaters). In fact, I love cooking so much that I plan on getting a degree in culinary management upon my return to Canada. I would be more then willing to not only cook for any couch surfing host, but to show them how to make healthy meals that can be done quickly and easily.
