ABOUT ME

Hey Everyone ! I'm a recent graduate from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. I've spent the last 5-6 years in Ottawa for school and am ready to EXPLORE and meet the rest of the world! After finishing a 40 day backpacking trip through Europe, I went home for a few weeks and am now teaching English in a small Chinese city called Binzhou !

I love trying new foods and meeting new friends;
I see travelling as a constant widener of my perspective on life.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in the universe (as in, if you really want something and aren't just sitting on your butt, the universe will help manifest it)

I love an open mind and I admire anyone who has the confidence to go beyond their comfort zone. Lots of older people tell me it's because of my age, but for the most part I'm an Optimist on life (and I hope it stays that way =) )

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately, I don't have a couch available, but am definitely open to hanging out with Couch Surfers in town (if there ever are any in Binzhou lol). I'll definitely be doing some travelling during all Chinese work holidays, so I'm hoping to be able to meet some awesome ppl on CS, who might have an open couch or maybe want to grab a drink

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I"m new in the couch surfing world, so I haven't had much action or experiences yet! But my best friend, who recommended me to this network has used CS as she backpacked throughout all of Europe and said it was great. She also found a host when she went to Tahiti and said she had never felt more welcomed or could have imagined having a better time.

So my only experience thus far is hearing sweet things about couch surfing! But overall, I think this network is a great concept, full of open-minded travellers who are looking toward similar goals (ie. meeting new friends abroad or welcoming new friends to their hometowns)

I like working with kids -I volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa, which is a mentoring program for young kids. I had a group of 9 girls (who were Exhausting and Fascinating all at the same time) =)
Now I'm working with kids every week at an English training school in China, where most of the kids are great and are constantly making me laugh

Hoping to do a lot of travel whenever I have chunks of time off work ! = )

I have a lot of music favourites and they're always changing. But I know one of my favourite feelings is turning on my iPod and going for a walk when I've just downloaded a fresh playlist

Movies: Man on Fire, Finding Nemo, Friends with Benefits, Lord of the Rings, Wedding Crashers, Kill Bill, Django Unchained

Last few books I read : "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, "The Prophet" by Khalil Gibran, and "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" By Johnathon Safran Foer - Loved them all
- Am currently reading "The Book of Negros" by Lawrence Hill

FOr me, it's about learning allI can from different people that I meet-- everyone has their own stories and their own experiences. One specific thing I'd love to learn from others CSers is how to take some kick-ass pictures! (so i can really capture the moments i have when travelling) AS someone once said, everyone you meet in life is a teacher.
And I hope that I can offer my own experiences and ideas as a part of other people's learning =)
