About Me

Hello Everyone! My names is Michael Griffin. I am 22 years old, I was born in Annapolis Maryland. When I was ten I moved to Warrenton Virginia, a small town located fifty miles north of our nation’s capital. I was raised in a large family being one of seven, the middle child and having a house full of dogs since I’ve been a child. I enjoy living an active lifestyles, eating right (mostly greens and veggies), spending time with people and living life to its full potential.

I'm an easy going person, very laid back or nonchalant. I've been told im easy to talk to and get along with. Never judge a book by its cover and treat others how you'd want to be treated is my philosophy of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just recently was turned on to this site through a friend, who is often over seas for travel and isn't always thrilled with the accommodations provided by hotels, not the price. I myself being a student am often "strapped" for cash. Figured this would be a great way to save some money and develop a friendship with new people along the way! I am also a teacher, more specifically a TEFL teacher which stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Given this I will spending time in MANY different places teaching English along the way, I hope to have an alternative form of hospitality in my travels.

Interests

Some of my favorite activities include camping, hiking, swimming, writing, riding my bike, going to music festivals and listening to music. In particular I love to be outdoors, which is convenient. Warrenton is home to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Rappahannock River both great for their scenic trails. My favorite thing to do in my spare time would be to read. Since I was young I’ve been an outstanding reader. I enjoy reading nonfiction. I specifically love the works of Terence McKenna, Ralph Abraham, Aldous Huxley, Carl Sagam, Ken Keesey, ALan Watts and Ram Dass. I also like a variety of antiquity provided by Plato, Socrates, and Herodotus.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my life, my experiences. I love to talk, am open and friendly. I enjoy going out, having a good time and just getting to know one another during my travels. I can offer a form of payment as well, not much given my financial situation being a student, however I would be more than willing to accommodate for my time spent. I enjoy showing gratitude and recognition for others kind acts!
