About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Fighting crime on a million-dollar speedboat
ABOUT ME
I'm a literature professor, somewhat cocooned on a hill west of Ankara. Would love to meet people whose neuroses are different than mine--and, particularly, people to speak Turkish with. I've been a writing instructor in English, so I'm a good person to reciprocally speak English with.
PHILOSOPHY
"You can't fall off the floor."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still sort of figuring this out. You probably don't want to stay where I live, unless suburban Ankara sounds exciting to you. But I could be very useful if you're a Turkish person who wants to learn English; and I'm a reasonably entertaining expat.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Alas, none. I'm primarily using this as a way of meeting lovely people in Ankara. Maybe one day?
Interests
Languages, non-North-American cultures, reading, "new experiences" (if that doesn't sound forced or phony.) Since moving to Turkey, I've fulfilled a life-long interest in archaeological sites; I'm always trying to visit more.

Music, Movies, and Books
Well, once you've left Ayn Rand behind, what else is there, really? (That was a joke.) I'm pretty omnivorous in all of these categories. What are you interested in? I'm probably interested in that--unless you haven't left Ayn Rand behind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen students with no interest in literature slowly come around to it through my teaching. It doesn't happen often, but when it does--wow.
