ABOUT ME
Hello Surfers!
About myself... I'm Mexican American, born and raised in Cali. I am 27 years of age, and recently relocated to Chicago--yet I am a small-town boy at heart!
I grew up in Coachella, CA at the time when the city was known as "the middle of nowhere", as oppose to the huge music festival of today. I spent the last 10 yrs of my life in Orange County, where I went to college, lived a little, and grew into my adult self ;)
As for now, I continue my life's journey in the great city of Chicago, where I am fostering new friendships, and continuing my nonprofit work in the community. My background is in social services, public health, and youth development.
Like every other person on here, I too am open-minded, chill, and enjoy meeting new people and seeing new places. The main reason I joined c-surfers is because of the community. I am hoping to meet some cool people and form new friendships in Chicago.
PHILOSOPHY
"ONE... that is all that you need."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Still new to couchsurfing, yet I plan to use this network to meet people from all walks of life!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Novice, here. My prev. roommate and I hosted a Female from Australia on one occasion, yet it was only for 1 night and the experience was a bit lack luster. I am definitely open to learning more about this great site, though.
Interests
Interested in people, places, culture. Enjoy traveling and wish I could do more of it. Find the wilderness to be refreshing, and the sun and beach enticing. Horrible cook, yet interested in learning and trying new foods. I enjoy film, photography, music, dance, architecture--all forms of art.
I am growing older, but I don't consider myself boring nor settled. I still enjoy going out and experiencing the night life. I enjoy the bar scene, but I also like to mix it up with a theatre or musical show. I do drink, and I do so responsibly-and that's the only recreational substance of choice ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
I studied film in college, so I have an honest appreciation for all types of movies. I am always up for a night of Netflix, pizza and wine. I enjoy my dark, character-driven dramas, but my guilty pleasures would have to be romantic comedies and horror flicks.
Lana del Rey's Paradise is playing in my headphones now... Pandora and AOL Music are my most used apps. I like my top 40, yet I can also be listening to classical music on my drive to work, and then be playing African beats at my desk.
Only reading I do nowadays is emails, research, articles, and program pamphlets >.<'
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My trip to Japan was definitely amazing. Tokyo was full of life, people were friendly, and the culture was rich in uniqueness. During that trip I realized I could experience new worlds outside of my day-to-day.
My move and road trip to Chicago was definitely an amazing adventure in itself.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am much more of a learner than I am a teacher! I can read and write in Spanish. I can also be very efficient and handy--does that count? If ever I posses a skill that may be useful, I would be more than willing to help and/or pass on the knowledge :)
