About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To provide a fun safe place for couch surfers in my area
ABOUT ME
Boy... ALL about me? Well, I am a single father of fantastic children- never a dull moment.
I love travelling, reading, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, playing ice hockey, table tennis, billiards, listening to live music.
I love to design and build things. Hmmm.. Is it enough for now?
PHILOSOPHY
There aren't very many things that can't be fixed by clar thinking and a bowl of ice cream and berries.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I just found you guys- fantastic idea. I have been a couch surfer on my international trips, but without the help of this site.
I have always enjoyed a trip MUCH more if I am staying at someone's house, so this is just a perfect fit.
While I build my house I won't be travelling... But I have room for an occasional surfer.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It started in Mexico as I got to know new friends and slept on their couch. Great story about that first time... I'll tell it at a better time.
I volunteered after the tsunami in Thailand, then Malaysia and finally Indonesia. Lots of couch surfing as the volunteers moved to where we were most needed.
Interests
Playing ice hockey... travelling, flying, paragliding, table tennis (bring your favorite paddle.)

Music, Movies, and Books
I read voraciously and have a decent sized library... Lots of things on building and architecture, expecially timber framing and older architecture.
Music- Spanish language, classic rock, , actually some performers of almost all genres.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm.. In Thailand I attended a memorial service for the Tsunami victims. There were several thousand Buddhist Monks and maybe 20 thousand non-monks... The chanting was amazing, and beautiful, and when we lit and released thousands of floating candles- wow. I had to say it out loud to the guy next to me- "This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." Sounds corny, but man, it was needed there.
Teach, Learn, Share
Depending on the day, I can teach welding, woodworking, sawmilling, house building, table tennis, ice skating...
