About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To build peace in as many places as I can

ABOUT ME

I have an amazing wife and three terrific offspring. We all grew up on a small farm a few miles south of Belfast. The young have gone off to make their own way. We are fully enjoying the vintage years of our lives, working at things we enjoy and planning to travel to as many of the corners of the earth as we can reach.

PHILOSOPHY

The past is a great teacher and a poor place to live.
We can't change yesterday. We can change today and influence tomorrow. If it floats, its a boat. If it sinks, its an anchor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a good listener, who enjoys meeting people, discovering different cultures, cuisines, climates and modes of transport.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I'm new to the organised couchsurfing process, I have previously slept on many couches and spare beds. Almost all of my experiences have been positive and some completely hilarious. Whilst travelling I've eaten fish eyes as an honoured guest, watched the Life of Brian with an ordained cleric, broken the Ramadan fast in a remote Black Sea village and sung Scots songs at an Indian cross cultural Diwali festival.

Interests

I love fast cars, great songs, cooking and eating, reading, travelling, talking with old friends, meeting new ones, spending time with my family, walking the hills and working on our smallholding.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an eclectic love of books, movies and music, both recorded and live. I am less fond of listing them for fear of leaving some out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing traditional enemies discover that they have more in common with each other than they ever would have guessed and more to learn from each other than from their closest friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Those who have diverse life experience that they are happy to share. Its a lost day when I don't learn something new. I am happy to share cooking, playing music, walking and life stories.
