To wander to every wonder of the world and meet people who wander in wonder
CS IS ABOUT INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE - PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT!
If you joined Couchsurfing thinking it's about a FREE PLACE TO STAY (you are wrong, it's not!) or if you joined but don't know fully what it's about, ask or do some homework.
If you want me to host you, read my profile from beginning to end - yes, every word.
If you want me to host you, SEND AN ACTUAL COUCH REQUEST, not an email. All couch requests sent by the CS e-mail messaging system will be ignored.
Despite what you might have heard or read, Couchsurfing is not to be treated like some sort of free hostel or hotel. It's about guests and hosts getting to know each other, sharing experiences, stories, life. Too many freeloaders, misinformed and uninformed people have joined the site, ruining a good thing. I am a CS ambassador. I am here to help. And that help also includes guiding newcomers as to the proper use of the site.
NOW, ABOUT ME
Little pleases me more than being in a foreign country hanging out with the locals. Sure, I enjoy the big tourist sites as much everybody else, but at the end of the day, I want to be in a neighborhood where the locals eat, drink and share good times.
In February 2011, I began a journey around the world that lasted 7 years, and only recently (March 2017) settled in Los Angeles. I live and work downtown.
I am a journalist, currently assignment editor on the National/Foreign desk of the Los Angeles Times. My preference is to host Saturday, Sunday and Monday but we can work things out as for as other days of the week.
If you get a couch request from me rest assured you've been chosen carefully and I really want to meet you. YOU as a person are important. Your couch is secondary. If I ask for your couch it is because I hope to spend time getting to know you and to learn about you. It is because I believe that we can learn something from each other and perhaps even forge a friendship. That's what couchsurfing is about, isn't it?
I AM honest, clean, easy-going, friendly, and able to shift gears with no problem, and I love adventure. I do not let little things bother me life. Let's hang in harmony, peace and love! :)
I HAVE a travel blog: miketendstotravel.com
I speak fluent Spanish. Hablo espanol.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Long before I became an CS ambassador, I hosted hundreds of people, way more than the count CS shows. I have hosted and attended many CS events.
Through it all, I have met some very cool people who have enriched my life. I look forward to making new friends across the globe and again meeting the ones I've already met.
Out of hundreds of positive experiences, one very bad apple in Argentina who was only days into Couchsurfing and gave me a retaliatory negative reference because I told the truth about her extremely bad behavior. As CS grows, with the increase of good people come also the bad, sadly. Such is life. It is what it is.
Exploring places; rollerblading with lightning-speed efficiency; dining in, dining out; never leaving the dancefloor; music, music, music; sleeping and waking up on beaches; storytelling and storytellers; people watching; solo journeys (of course!); some nerdy tech stuff

Wow, just one?
Flying down an active volcano on a mountain bike in the Andes Mountains in Ecuador, with wild horses running across the path, that was pretty amazing
Breakfast with Nelson Mandela, at his home, was pretty awesome
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to do backflips if you don't mind landing on your butt (In other words, you don't want to learn backflips from me :)
I can teach you English, Spanish and as much as you can stand to hear about the United States, having been to 49 of our 50 states, one many countries I've been to and lived in.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great company and stories I will someday share with the rest of the world in my book
But mostly happy to share with CS newbies how CS really works. We need to get this community back to the "true CS spirit'.
