Professionally, writer and researcher in history of science and ancient languages. Hibernation in winter and expeditions in summer. Check out the "Teach.Share.Learn" section to see what we can do together.
I prefer to host and surf with fellow academics and young professionals, including artists and musicians. I would meet a complete stranger only I am fairly convinced that there will be some meaningful exchange and that it is arranged well in advanced. Best two to four nights, with notice two to eight weeks in advance. Better chance for weekend requests. You will need to have phone access both overseas and in Japan to confirm your request and keep in touch. Sometimes when I get too many random cut-and-paste requests, I would turn the hosting-button off. Feel free to drop an email if you think we share travel interests, language and hospitality exchange.
No smoking, drugs, chemical products such as perfume and aerosol spray. I respect your choice, but not in my house.
Refrain from the bad, do good and purify the mind - thus taught all the Enlightened.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Learned about CS through an Esperanto-speaking friend who happens to be a CS member.
One of the best and most interesting ways to travel ever! I have had some great experiences in this network and I would love to go on contributing to this community!
I have been a host on another network called pasporta servo (Esperanto version of CS) for over 12 years.
I traveled around the world when I was in my early 20s, helped by many strangers who were kind to me, taught me many things and treated me as their family. Rarely could I reciprocate, so the least I can do is to help other decent travelers.
Adventurer stories, culture, history, exotic languages, good food, hiking, board games. Astronomy, Buddhism, contemporary art and classical music. Anything Chinese (ancient), French, German and Japanese. S'il te plaît me faire parler en français!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Closed my eyes, picked a random place on the map and flew there - It was in the sea, so I got to the closest point near the tip of Hokkaido...
