HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Both a host and a surfer.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My initial experiences with couchsurfing were mostly secondhand. I lived in a big house during college with buddies who were avid couchsurfing hosts. Met so many great people by opening up our house this way. Really turned me on to the idea. Since then I've opened my home and used the site to connect with hosts while on my own travels.
Interests
Almost anything. Seriously. This space isn't spacious enough.
- literature
- fishing
- scuba diving
- mountains
Music, Movies, and Books
The main thing I do is read, omnivorously, voraciously. So if you like books, we can talk books. For hours.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Motorbiked across a rickety rope-and-plank bridge in the mountains of the Philippines. Drove a safari van across the Maasai Mara, almost hit a cape buffalo. Went cliff-diving in three different states. Fished for sharks in the Gulf of Mexico. Ate live octopus in Korea. Worked in Colorado as a reforestry technician. That's enough for now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to know a lot about fishing and lawnmowers. (Those were our two family businesses.) I should know a lot about home construction and remodeling, since I spent summer after summer after summer working in those fields, but this knowledge never stuck. Nowadays I know quite a bit about literature, linguistics, and the places I've traveled in the world.
Countries I’ve Visited
Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan
