About Me

On my way to becomming a doctor... slowly but surely

I am a recent grad on my way to taking the MCATs and becomming a doctor. I am really interested in medical anthroplogy and creating social change through health. I am a self taught chef and I love to cook using local foods, pref. organic. I eat meat and fish but am commited to buying sustainably and/or locally farmed foods. I am also a musician: i plat the guitar, mandolin and piano and drums. I love bluegrass, folk, radiohead, jazz, etc. I am also a photographer. I love to hike and backpack. I love to skinny dip and to read and to meet genuine people who are caring and creative. I am a bit of a sciency dorky guy, i love plants!!! i love wildflowers. I knit. I love Murakami, And Tom Robbins, and Wang Kar Wai and foreign flicks. I love to chill drink nice wine, sample new wines, talk about wine, learn about wine. etc. I love food and learning new recipies. I entertained my self as a kid (when I still had TV) watching cooking shows and trying to imitate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to host, but I am in transition of moving. I have a room back home in Mendocino that is a loft with a bed and a piano. I love this idea and think that it is better to connect person to person than to support the alienating devices of the tourism industry. I have faith in people doing things outside of business.

Music, there is a whole list of things i like on my face book account... search me up on face book or myspace: Michael Mangahas... there should only be one... the last names a doozy to pronounce.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took a trip to tucson for ten day by myself. Wrote a book... was more of a personal road journal more than anything, but it is a really good idea to go some place new and strange by yourself for a while
