To enlighten the world with my charming, creative and boisterous presence.
All about me, huh? Traveling is one of the best ways I've learned about myself and this world. I love meeting crazy, fun-lovin', life-livin' people wherever my feet take me. Also, I'm a photographer trying to find his perfect, pie in the sky, end-all be-all picture that defines my life in some significant mind-blowing way to the point where it all makes sense. In the meantime, I'll just keep on keeping on.
My mom worked for Northwest Airlines (now Delta) for about 11 years, so I grew up traveling all over the place (check out my travel destinations to see where I've been). Since then, I have a parasite that lives inside me called the travel bug. Perhaps you've heard of it? So, I've managed to throw together a few trips myself over the years and have many places on my list of where I still want to go.
Lastly, I'm a bit of a conspiracy nut. So, if you want to learn about this crazy world we live in from a different perspective, I'm your man. If you don't want to, that's fine too. We can talk about the weather, or the fascinating life of snails...
Extend a hand to your fellow man, don't be afraid to love and don't forget to wipe your feet at the door.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The idea of couch searching is awesome. I've traveled a lot and the best experiences have been when randomly meeting a kind soul who extends their heart and home to you. Figured I'd return all the favors I've received in my travels by offering my futon.
Nothing will ever top when I went to Zimbabwe with my dad and brother. We arrived in this town called Bulawayo after riding the train from Harare for two days. It was about 1AM when we arrived and we had arranged for a driver to pick us up to take us to a hotel near Hwange National Park, about 80 miles to the northwest. When we got to the hotel, which was around 2:30 am, they nearly tripled the price on us because we are white Americans and figured we had money (this is NOT a racist comment). It was only for one night and we planned on moving on early the next day so it wasn't worth it for a few hours of sleep. When the driver heard this, he offered for my dad, brother and I to stay with him and his family. We took him up on the offer, and had an amazing experience!!
Photography, hockey, biking, camping/hiking/backpacking, writing, reading awesome books, art, gallery shows, music, religion and philosophy.
Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to list. Ask if you have a yearning to know.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Experiencing my dad having a stroke. By far the biggest challenge, yet most rewarding thing I've ever gone through (and still go through as he will be 'recovering' the rest of his life).
Teach, Learn, Share
Be respectful. If someone lets you surf their couch and throws a raging party, don't forget to help clean up in the morning. If someone has to study for the big test and you're surfing, let them be and perhaps make them a meal so they can concentrate on the task ahead. Simply put, be a good surfer.
