About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Uh, right now - exposing the evilness of the coal industry and having a damn fine time doing it.
ABOUT ME
I'm down to earth, easy going and always keen to try new things and meet new people.
I have just left my job working in biodiversity policy to work on some coal campaigns in the states. I'm passionate about social and environmental justice issues and my main focus over the last few years has been climate change campaigning.
I'm been a vegetarian for about 8 years but can be flexible when I need to be, particularly if it means trying new things/avoiding hassle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm used to living in big communal share houses so am a considerate, tolerant housemate/surfer. I'm keen to contribute to households even if only there for a short time! I'm tidy and considerate and enjoy cooking and sharing meals.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to couch surfing and keen to join up as I'm travelling in the states for approx 12 months. I have heard great things about the couch surfing community and while I haven't been a host yet, my big share house in Sydney has been a friendly space where travellers, activists, friends of friends can crash anytime.
Interests
I love the outdoors and bushwalking (as we call it in Oz), seeing live music, checking out random theatre performances (even bad theatre is good fun!). In Sydney we are blessed with some beaut beaches so I try and get myself in the ocean as much as possible!
I'm passionate about protecting the environment and social justice issues.
I love a few beers and a singalong at karaoke....

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all kinds of music (particularly folk and bluegrass) and going to see live music. Favourite artists at the moment are Tallest Man on Earth, Ray La Montagne and Rodriguez. I play trumpet in an activist band called Riff Raff Radical Marching Band in Sydney which is heaps of fun - we play everything from Lady Gaga to anti fascism songs like Bella Ciao.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most amazing things I have seen are mostly in the natural world. The cradle mountain track in Tasmania in Australia is beautiful. Every type of vegetation you can imagine and just pristine wildernes..
Most amazing/inspiring things I have done....generally with other people. Taken mass peaceful action with 100 other people to stop a coal train taking coal to a power station in the Hunter Valley in NSW.
