Figuring out what to do with my life by going on a walkabout.
I'm a pretty easy-going person. I've been called even-keeled, so my ups aren't super up and my downs aren't super down. I try and be someone who is easy to get a long with. When travelling, unless I really want to do something, I'm usually pretty flexible.
Flexibility and a willingness to learn and observe. I'm that person you may know that will point out birds and insects and things on a hike. Then I'll tell you all I know about it. Because, biology is interesting, damn it!
I love travelling, as I'm sure most couchsurfers do. But I love the feeling of just going and experiencing somewhere new and learning a little bit about that place. I love learning new things and can usually find something interesting about anything. I'm also a huge nerd, science-fiction in particular.
I'd also consider myself relatively outdoorsy. I love hiking and camping and having majored in biology I see it as an opportunity to learn and observe more about the environment.
Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to lean towards science-fiction and comedy. Galaxy Quest? Probably my favorite movie because it has both.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a summer in Jordan, and I would say the entire experience left me awestruck. Looking out over Wadi Rum as the sun set was one particular moment that I don't think I'll ever forget.
Flying also always makes me contemplate our world. I've taken probably hundreds of flights and I don't think I can ever really get over the fact that I can go from the US to Australia in less than a day. How cool is that?!
Teach, Learn, Share
Really weird things about biology and science in general. For instance, did you know that there are more species of fish in the Amazon River than their are in the entire Atlantic Ocean? Basically, my head is full of things like this.
