About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live like Jesus. And make cookies.

ABOUT ME

Hello Friends! I have just moved back to Chicago, my favorite city! I am a live-in nanny for a great family on the North Side. I have travelled a few fun places in my day.... Studied abroad in Northern Ireland, Choir trip to the British Isles, Church trips to Poland, Czech Republic, and Mexico, Fun trip to Spain, and a little jaunt to Canada. I am a strong Christian who desires to make a difference in this world. I graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2010 with a BA in International Ministries, i.e. Intercultural Studies. I also have my certification in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I hope to be moving to Japan in the next year to teach English! Along the way I want to travel and meet fun and interesting people.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life in constant pursuit of God. I am a redeemed child of His and know that I cannot do anything without Him. I seek to love others and love God as best as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this whole CS community, so I don't know exactly what to expect, but I am open to new and exciting experiences! Since I am a live-in nanny at the moment, I don't have a couch to give up for other surfers, but in the near future I hope to be able to host. I am very interested in the CS activities and we shall see where they take me. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experiences as of yet, but ready to make some.

Interests

I love to craft! I love to make fun hair accessories and gifts. When I see things in stores many times I must ask myself "can I make it myself and save a ton of money?" I enjoy playing tennis, riding my bike in the city, attempting to be a runner, and playing the viola.

Music, Movies, and Books

"24" is probably my favoritest (yes, not a word) show of all time! I love to read about other cultures and try and understand how things work in other systems of life. I am currently reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. My favorite book besides the Bible is the Biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer- Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas. Some of my other favorite titles include: A Sweet and Bitter Providence by John Piper, Sideways on a Scooter by Miranda Kennedy, and I Come Quietly to Meet You by Amy Carmichael. My favorite musical artists are: Dave Barnes, Mat Kearney, Hillsong United, Jon Foreman, Andrew Peterson, Coldplay, The Fray, Gungor, John Mayer, Josh Groban, Kim Walker, NeedtoBreathe, Sovereign Grace Music

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak English. (ha! yeah... a REAL talent there...) I have my ESL/TESOL certification so I do love to teach and help others learn English. I play the viola. I love to craft and make fun things.... I know how to read music, make a feather headband, mod podge just about anything, and you can probably ask me most any trivia question about the Bible and I could answer it. (maybe...)

I honestly don't have many skills that make me really interesting... but I do love people!
