ABOUT ME

I'm Matt, adventurous, mischievous, constantly intrigued. This year I've decided to embrace the spirit of change and do/see/experience things I've never done before. I aim to push myself out of my comfort zones and soak up the universe. I'm going to start by hitting the road in June and seeing the sights in Europe I have yet to see!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I've written above, I'll be making my way around Europe in June so it would be awesome to find some like minded people to hang with and possibly some places to stay. I have yet to create an itinerary but I hope to visit various cities in Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic and down into the Eastern bloc. Currently I have no specific route so any destination suggestions are welcomed!

I'd like to open my door as a host to any fellow couchsurfers who may want to hang out in Portsmouth!

***Feb 2012 EDIT*** I have a very loose plan for my June trip starting with Oslo then making my way to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhangen then taking a plane over to Budapest and heading to Vienna, Krakow, Warsaw, Prague, Dresden, Berlin, Cologne, Amsterdam and ending in Bruges before getting the Eurostar back to England. Any ideas to make this trip even more awesome, please hit me up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first CS experience in Feb 2012 with Hanna coming to stay! It was awesome and I can't wait to be a host for others as well as surf around the globe!

Music, Movies, and Books

I will literally watch anything. I've studied film so I appreciate the high-end art house stuff but I'll always make time for a stupid b-movie or something with a lighter touch :)

I used to be a bit of a music snob (if it wasn't heavy or weird, I didn't care) but now I'm finding that the unconventional seems to be taking over pop music so I'm happy with that!

I don't read as much as I used to but when I do it tends to be something mentally stimulating. I appreciate good writing (always) but the story comes first, dammit!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to a few festivals in my time but nothing beat Bestival on the IoW last year (2011). Such a brilliant atmosphere! Carnival on fireeee!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn new languages (I'm really not fussed) but unfortunately I can't offer anything but English in return! I play guitar and would be up for teaching some of that. I'm sure there are more things, but we'll just have to wait and see!
