About Me

CURRENT MISSION

At the moment I am interested in meeting new people from different walks of life with similiar interests.

ABOUT ME

My best friends would say I was a friendly person, mostly happy and calm, understanding and easy to talk to. I am independant and enjoy discovering things alone. I am shy in groups of new people but will make an effort to try and come out of my shell. Once acheived I am relaxed, enjoy being a part of a group and can entertain. I'm not outlandish or loud though, as I like to rest and enjoy peaceful sounds and rhythms. They would also say I was very creative and cultural, outgoing but also a homebody.

PHILOSOPHY

Seeing the positive from the negative. I'd like to use the things that hold me back (unconfident, shy and nervous) and turn them into positive things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I can meet in London and hang out, show you around the city or get involved in fun activities. I would like to host my couch soon but am redecorating at the moment so not a good time. But hopefully soon!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm generally new although I have stayed on someone elses couch in Helsinki for the first few days of arrival whilst he wasn't there he let me and friend stay in his flat. Never met the guy before but he was a friend of a friend. I've organised a lift between cities in Germany through the internet, a friend and I were stuck finding a train journey time that would allow us to reach our detination in time but we managed to find a guy going in our direction who was happy to accomadate us.

Interests

I have a part time job that enables me to spend my spare time studying things I am curious about or interested in. I like to remain in education as much as I can, even if it is just a weekend course, I find this beneficial for myself as an individual to keep my mind thinking. At the moment, I am currently studying German Language but I have taken French lessons and harmonica lessons before, and am currently looking to enrol in a Introduction to Philosophy; Aristotle at the City Lit. I enjoy indulging in my hobbies which are mainly creative hobbies that consist of reading, writing, drawing, painting, visiting art galleries/private views, visiting free talks and discussions, meeting people and seeing friends and family. I also enjoy walking and when in another country often take long walking tours to see and get to know the surrounding area better.
I find classical literature interesting and any topics that are related to classical literature in modern day film, art and story telling. These grab my attention and makes my life engaging. I enjoy heated discussions on certain taboo subjects such as censorship in films, censorship in books, freedom of speech and information governance. I have a habit of reading books that were banned to gain a better insight to the time and age of the changing of attitudes.
Architecture is also intriguing. Looking around me and at my surroundings takes up most of my time, I am always processing what I see, feel and experience into a visual image or narrative that I can translate into a drawing, painting, poem or film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Summer 2011 in Munich. I visited the English Garden with a friend. There is a stream that runs through the park and my friend and I decided to jump into that stream despite the notice saying no jumping.
2) Late Summer 2011 at night. In London, drinking whiskey with three friends on the shore by The Thames River. We each took turns to wear waders and waded into the Thames till it reached our chests.
3) New Years eve, Battersea, on a roof top with a friend watching the fireworks go off in the distance we were talking, listening to music and sharing a bottle of wine. Very relaxing and a moment where I didn't want the following day to arrive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach, share photography skills and images. I can share writing. I would like to read other peoples work, short stories, poems and scripts.
I can share the English Language, and if anyone can speak German I can share a little German too.
