About Me

I'm Sam. I love music and dabble in music production. I played the viola since I was 9 years old and picked up the guitar somewhere along the way. Although I've stopped playing guitar as much as I used to, I have gotten into electronic music production and I'm steadily learning to put together awesome sounds and melodies. I love EDM for the most part and listen to a lot of House, Deep house, and Trance but really, I enjoy all good music. Arcade Fire used to be one of my favorite bands before they became mainstream. Just kidding haha. To be honest I just lost interest in Arcade Fire as I was discovering more and more electronic music. I absolutely love music and I plan on being heavily involved with music for the rest of my life.

Other than my absolute love for music, I love cycling and I have an awesome Raleigh Furley; a single speed hybrid bicycle. I also love to shuffle(dance) and I think I'm pretty good at it.

I also really enjoy coffee. My second job was as a barista at Starbucks. I loved making coffee and learning about it, but honestly I hated dealing with rude people and having to serve them like everything was OK. During my time at Starbucks I became a Coffee Master and learned a whole lot about coffee. Since then I have come to really love coffee. My favorite is just a plain, simple, regular coffee. No sugar, no milk. It's probably an acquired taste but I love it. A good coffee really goes a long way. I also enjoy espresso too, but it is not so easy to find great espresso in Las Vegas, although there are several notable coffee shops with fantastic espresso, it's just out of the way for me, since I don't drive.

Other than that, I don't really know what to say about myself, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I frequently go out of town for music festivals and for travel in general. I always thought about surfing but I was pretty scared of running into dishonest people or just really strange people. I've grown a lot since and I've decided I want to give it a shot. I have friends who have used Couchsurfing and had wonderful experiences so that was a bit of encouragement.

Interests

As I've already typed out in my "About Me"

I love music - Favorite artist currently is Teemid.
I love cycling - I originally wanted to try out cyclocross but for some reason I never did it. Never too late, right?
I love shuffling - Seriously, it is a lot of fun.
I love coffee - Nothing better than the smell of fresh coffee when you wake up, am I right?

Music, Movies, and Books

I won't go into the music since I've already talked so much about it.

In terms of movies? Hmm. I think one of my favorites would be The Pianist. I mean, that movie was really awesome. It has been my favorite movie since it's release. I think a lot of the reason that I like the movie has to do with my love for history, specifically the WW2 era. Really interesting period of time.

Books? Man, I wish I could say I had a favorite book. I always tell myself that I'm going to read a book but I -- y'know, life. However! I do remember really loving all the books that Dan Brown wrote. I haven't read his more recent ones but I have read Angels & Demons, Digital Fortress, The DaVinci Code, Deception Point, aaaaand I think that's it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to be 325lbs. I was so sick of being so overweight that I pulled myself together and went on one of the most boring diets ever to exist and I started to exercise. After a year of hard work and insane discipline, I was 185lbs and feeling better than EVER!! During that time I switched my diet to a completely raw diet and that was extremely difficult. My diet actually consisted of 70% bananas. I once ate 14 bananas for breakfast.Since then... I have gained some weight and I'm sitting at 230lbs. I'm totally not okay with it and am working to get fit again. So, yeah I think it was pretty amazing I was able to do that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to shuffle! I'm pretty freakin' decent at it!
I can teach you guitar basics! I can teach you how to ride a bike lol.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm honestly not to sure of what I can share with the hosts. I know how to make Kimchi Fried Rice, so if I'm given the opportunity I'm so down to cook. Otherwise, I don't know. :(
