About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make the world a slightly better place ... Still don't know how

ABOUT ME

Half Crazy ... Half Sane

PHILOSOPHY

I will borrow from Ralph Waldo Emerson

"To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded."

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many to list which makes it a very difficult task but let's start.

Movies: The man from earth, V for Vendetta, The count of Monte Cristo, Black Cat White Cat (an excellent Serbian movie), Movies by Woody Allen such as: Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Match Point, Hollywood Ending, Whatever works, ... The Prestigue, How to lose friends and alienate people, Juno ... just to name a few ...

Music: Abba (yeah I know it is a bit retro but I love this band!)

Books: I will list my favorite authors, it will make this much easier and the list shorter ...
George Orwell, Jose Luis Saramago, C.S. Lewis, Jose Luis Borges, Edward Said, T.S. Elliot ...
Don't like Paulo Cohelo, too cheesy for my taste, for example just look at the Alchemist, he says "When you pursue your personal legend the universe will conspire with you to make it happen", sorry but that is for 5 years old kids.
Don't like Dan Brown, too commercial, the novels lack a certain depth, he plays on controversial themes to sell, without offering any real value-added to the topic. Although I have to admit he is really good in involving the reader, especially with his ability to describe the environment, it really makes you feel that you are there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have watched Spain win the world cup over Holland in the middle of Rembrandtplein surrounded by a sea of Orange T-shirts! ... and I celebrated!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been inspired by many people I have met, and hopefully I inspired them too. I am looking forward to continue this cycle.
