ABOUT ME

I´ve been taking time out from the daily grind for the last 10yrs & between travels, reside in a small beachside town on the Southern coast of Spain called Almuñecar. There ain´t nuthin goin on but the beach. The living is easy & there´s an endless feast of fresh fish & fine wines.

I used to work as a DJ in clubs & on radio whilst holding down a full on advertising career. I quit it & hit it in 1999 and have been around the world to many amazing locations & met hundreds of wonderful people & new friends along the way.

Now that I live on the beach I have less desire to travel for extended periods but still have to move about to get my music fix. Last year I went to an amazing reggae festival in northern Italy - Rototom Sunsplash. This year I´m doing the Canadian jazz fest circuit. Barcelona is not so far, I´m still thinking I might go & see Grace Jones at Sonar in a few weeks...though I´m a sound geek, & the venue is a large tin warehouse in an industrial zone. But it is Grace...I regularly join musician friends on tour & can occassionally be found doing the door for their gigs in London, which as one of the world´s great music capitals in terms of the breadth & depth of music on offer from all over the world, is my 2nd home. Such a shame about the climate!

I write anything from lyrics through to the screenplay I´m currently working on (isn´t everybody, I know) and hope to convert my spare bedroom into some semblance of a studio to make music. I live right in front of a beach & in such an environment, it would be kinda rude not to max out the creative energy I get from the ocean. But talk is cheap...

I´m also working on a couple of 'real' jobs. We´ll see what happens, as they´re both in start-up phase. But I´ve had an excellent long holiday & it really is about that time...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have two apartments, one where I live & the other in a nearby bay. I will try to accommodate you for a night or two but when this isn´t possible I will certainly hook you up with your next best option and be your cuisine-wine-tourism guide to the best of my ability. That counts for most of Spain, which I know pretty well.
I also hope to be able to meet some great people in my travels by sharing their space for a night or 2 or by finding a local partner in crime with whom to explore their turf...ideally with a view to hearing some great music...a service I unfortunately cannot reciprocate here in Spain, unless Flamenco is what you´re looking for...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I´ve rented apartments to tourists from all over the world & done houseswaps but never couchsurfed...love the idea though and the positive sharing experiences that everyone can get out of this great concept.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel a little shallow on this one as I´d love to be able to put down that I contributed something positive to society...but the closest I ever got to that was sharing the music via my various genred radio shows. Not exactly save the world stuff.
However...
I saw Prince twice at the O2 Stadium in London!
The Alhambra in Granada, Spain is surely one of the 7 wonders of the world.
and...I guess giving up smoking more than 10yrs ago was pretty amazing to all the people who never thought I´d do it. Let alone become such a hater!
