About Me

Embracing. Anything. Everything?

I have my own little world and the majority of the time i like it there. Some friends and myself believe i can be placed somewhere in the outer reaches of the autism/asperger spectrum. I can be bubbly, i can be dark. Sometimes it gets réally dark and nasty, but i lock myself away then, so nothing to worry about. Besides, that has only led to one casualty so far and nobody found that out so technically that doesn't count. I love scars and decaying beauty, be it in people, buildings or landscapes. No, i am not emo. I often don't get the whole social-interaction-thing, i suspect you all of taking the course "how to be a functioning member of society" and i "glitched" through the system or something.

Contradiction is somewhat key in my personality. I am at ease on the sideline of life, as well as in the spotlight. I have a love/hate-relationship with virtually everything and -one. I'm not to keen on people who are have the "I'm happy ALL the time"!-attitude, like robots and governments, i distrust them.
Very allergic to people who victimize themselves. Don't like conformism, however i am so well conditioned by my pretty strict upbringing that i walk the line more than i want to. I do believe in a basic value- & responsibility-system. Be kinder than necessary, because everybody is fighting some kind of battle (some people hide their battles and battle scars better than others) and treat another like you want to be treated kind of rule. I do not always follow my own rules.

Introverted-Extroverted, rational-emotional, chaotic-neurotically organized, motivated-apathetic, spontaneous-reclusive, impulsive-overthinking, outgoing-secluded, peacemaker-troublemaker, moralistic-uuh.. not so much :) are some core-features.
And surprisingly.. after a little warming-up i'm actually fun to have around.

Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.

Too often we try to choose and control things we cannot. Too seldom we choose to control what we can - our attitude.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of people; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.

Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really really really want to, but in my chaotic life, where i can barely take care of myself, it could use some improvement.

Did a lot of couchsurfing before and after CS excisted, through family & friends & friends of friends of friends etc

Not even going to mention traveling, that's a given. Photography, street art, the internet (Goatse & Japanese-octopus-porn excluded), hyper realism, killing my liver, the arts of procrastination.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wim Wenders, David Lynch, Tim Burton, Tarantino, Terry Gilliam, Kubrick, Linklater, Monty Python. Festen, Fight Club, Trainspotting, Amélie, Ten Canoes, Adventures of a Dentist, Goodbye Lenin, Das leben der anderen, Shawshank Redemption, Man bites Dog, Vals im Bashir, Big Fish, One flew, Pi, 12 Monkeys, Ex Drummer, Eternal Sunshine, Wristcutters, Happiness, Office Space (i know, i'm ridiculed for it, still think it was funny :)), Same time next year, La vita e bella, 1984, America History X, Idioterne, Persepolis, Mugabe and the white African, A Serbian film (apathy really kicked in after that one) and many more..

Books: Hitchhickers guide to the galaxy, Calvin & Hobbes, Oscar Wilde, Giphart, Herman Brusselmans, J.D. Salinger, David Foster Wallace, Victor Frenkl, Le Petit Prince.

Music: diversity is key. 30s swing music, 50s rockabilly, 60s Garage bands, Soul & protest-songs, 70s punk & reggae. Cheesy soundtrack and show tunes during these decades. After that.. not so much, Matisyahu, Vanessa Paradis, The Mars Volta and The Black Keys. Cleaning works best on Jamiroquai.
