About Me

Meet new people, see new places

I am a police officer, so if you're someone who does not like cops, we may not get along. Also, I can't have anyone who does drugs in the house. I served in the Army in the Army, but not at all the typical conservative, flag waving, gungho type. I love cats, we have several cats at the house. I also happen to be allergic to cats, so if you're allergic to cats, I'll have meds to offer if needed.

I've been going all over the place the last several years, I've spent very little time at home. I go on many, many, many, bike rides especially CM.  I've always enjoyed having guests so I figured CS is a good match for me. I really love to cook, if I have time to and you're visiting my house, I might hook you up! I grew up in Michigan, out in the Detroit area, I don't really go back there too much.

I want to experience as much as I can. I wish there could be more than 24 hours in a day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm happy invite anyone who finds themselves in or passing through Baton Rouge into my lovely home. I've also very much enjoyed local meetups. CS is my favorite way to see the country and meet new people on my travels.

I've surfed in Hawaii, El Paso, New Mexico, Lubbock, and Washington, Memphis, Little Rock, and also hosted people at my house. I've met people from all over the world!  Even when I'm traveling and the Army will reimburse me for hotels, I'd rather couchsurf, it saves tax dollars and increases fun.

My bicycle, motorcycles, live music, gardening, languages, NPR, art, tattoos, Russia, activism, the emerging progressive movement in The South, cooking: veggie, cajun and desserts are my specialties!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh g-d where to start. Movies: Anything Audrey Tatou, French movies in general, Russian movies to brush up on my skillz, for American films usually dark, indie sort of stuff or whatever Netflix tells me I might like.  Lots of documentaries.Music: Alternative hip-hop, rock, jazz, R&B, NuSoul, Peaches, crappy Russian techno, Le Tigre, Mos Def, Ani Difranco, Bitch and Animal, Les Nubians, New Orleans style riot jazz esp. Rebirth and Youngbloodz, M.I.A., Erykah Badu, System of a Down, American Nighmare, and Jill Scott.Books:  I'd have say Confederacy of Dunces is my absolute favorite, but generally I prefer non-fiction

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove from San Diego to Savanah, alone in a MINI Cooper. Driven from Monterey to Louisiana, couch surfing with my cat in tow, he now has references too, he's a really great couchsurfer too. I've extensively explored in Louisiana and driven up and down California and explored in AZ. I haven't left the country much, but I have been to Hawaii which is like leaving the country. I've been to Critcal Mass all over the country.  That was way more than one thing....sorry

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't forget your towel and don't be shy about borrowing someones shower if you're staying at their house!
