About Me

I grew up in a tight knit family surrounded by beautiful woods. I'm introverted, so I need at least a few hours of scheduled alone time every day, but I enjoy learning about people's stories and cultures. I love the ocean and the forest. I love laughing and eating good, cheap food. Fascinated by different understandings of death and other sometimes-taboo topics.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has introduced me to some of the most generous, warm, and worthwhile people I've ever met. I enjoy connecting with locals and getting the inside scoop wherever I am.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked into Serbia with a jolly trucker named Slobodan who didn't speak any English. My Serbian is limited to a single word I picked up from Slobodan: "Catastrofa." We had a grand old time crossing the Romanian border and listening to 90's rock and Eastern European jams. Spontaneous, heart-racing travel connections like these are often the most memorable and enjoyable for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to play backgammon and have taught kids in Bolivia to play. I can teach surfers, too. If you want to read good literature out loud to me in English, I'll happily help you with your pronunciation and intonation. I like reading aloud, too, and I'm a pretty good English conversation tutor in general. I'm happy to help with editing essays, webpage content, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maybe a simple meal and enjoyment of a game or two
