To travel and when possible show off this great country I live in.
I'm a pretty relaxed guy who likes to explore, meet new people and have random adventures. I never like to impose or be a free-loader but of course the best way to travel is to stay with locals and get advice on what to do and where to go.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
After the past year with a constant stream of couch surfers I think I've got the knack of this gig. I love showing people around, giving them "real" advice on what to do and where to go.
Vanuatu is often badly marketed to tourists, with the right bit of advice you'll go back home wanting to come back and telling all your friends how truly amazing this place is.
I've slept in a swag on a good mate's dead-end corridor for 5 months for a slab of beer a week. On my many trips back to Aus, i'm always "that guy" who crashes out on a friend's couch. So much cheaper, fun and damaging to my liver!
Personally though I've never officially couchsurfed. I tried a few times but due to circumstances I wasn't able to. I generally like to use couch surfers for information on what to do and where to go. There is nothing better than inside information.
As per all Couch surfers I love to travel as much as my wallet can bare. If I can't make it overseas then I'll travel around some of the 86+ islands in Vanuatu. Otherwise my life in Vila isn't generally boring, but taking in outgoing fun-loving CSs makes for a refreshing change. for such a small islands we have loads to do - So for me its great to have an "instant friend" to go out and do many of them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This feels like such a cheesy questions....sort of a "my answer is cooler than yours"
For me personally it was spending time with my nieces and nephews in their various countries. Such amazing kids, I miss them the most - sometimes it sucks living on a remote tropical island!
I've traveled a lot (I can't compete with the mad travelers) but I like to stay and live in a culture rather than visit, take a picture and tick it off a list. Take the opportunity and live in a foreign country: the people, cultures and environment will leave you awestruck.
