About Me

I typed my actual personal mission statement in the All About You section. My mission is to be a happy, positive, fun-loving person that is open to new people and new experiences! I have a passion for traveling and for learning about new things!

I have written a personal mission statement and have it posted in my classroom:

"Wake up determined. Live simply. Be happy. Replace fear with faith. Challenge brings change. Breathe. Show gratitude. Forgive. Talk with optimism. Let it go. Pay it forward. Be open to new experiences. Cherish relationships. Be kind to one another. Go to bed satisfied."

These are things I am constantly telling myself to improve my quality of life. I also love sharing these missions with others...including my hopefully inspire others to be great.

I live to experience, breathe, inspire, laugh, work hard, play hard, relax, serve, and love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking to find interesting people to stay with during my travels. I am new to couchsurfing, but know several friends that use it often. I don't know why in all my years of travel that I haven't done it! The times I have traveled and stayed with locals have been my favorite and most memorable times of all! I don't currently have a place that is open to surfers but hope to do so in the future.

No personal experiences yet. My really good friend, Lex Curtis, hosts couchsurfers often here in the same city I live in so I have been around when people have stayed. He has had such great experiences and is such a great host. I have an idea of what it's all about.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a music lover. I am passionate about my music...meaning the music I listen to. I think music is extremely powerful and creates such emotion for me. I have so many favorites I can't even begin to list them. My top three artists are Indigo Girls, Coldplay, and Joshua Radin.
I don't watch a ton of movies but not that I don't like to. I am really into documentaries. I love "I Am" and "Happy." I'd rather watch a movie for entertainment than read a book for entertainment. I enjoy reading, but only informational texts that will help to better me as a person. I am currently reading "The Leader in Me", "Spark", and "The Rejuvenation Enzyme."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cinque Terre this summer was amazing. It could possibly be my favorite place I've visited!
Havasupai Falls near the Grand Canyon is one of the prettiest places I have been and is a must do for everyone!
Japan was the most different place culturally that I've visited and I loved being there!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an expert on standby travel. :-) That's the only way I travel. I have flight benefits from a friend that works for an airline. I like to share knowledge on travel. I am also an expert teacher. I am in my 11th year of teaching and feel I have a wealth of knowledge about the ups and downs of education. I am a religious and spiritual person and I love to share my beliefs with anyone that wants to hear. I would like to learn more about travel, healthy eating, relationships, spirituality, and anything else someone would like to teach me!
