I'm 24, creative, kinda nerdy, love nature and the outdoors, music (I play the piano and saxophone, though not necessarily very well!), science and learning new practical skills. I studied Natural Sciences at University, then got my teaching qualification and taught in a primary school in Birmingham for a year and a half, then left and used my savings to learn to sail on a tall ship from Cape Town to Brest but, since it was always a dream of mine to go to sea, I ended up staying and becoming part of the crew! I'm very easy going and love exploring new places and getting to know new people.

Having made it as crew on the Bark Europa, I now need to complete my STCW basic safety training course before I can move from being volunteer crew to getting paid. However, I used all my savings for the trip from Cape Town to Brest and now the cheapest course I can find costs more than I have and that's not counting accommodation for a week. I don't want to have to give up my dream because I can't afford it, so am selling some of my things to try to make up the difference, but if I could find somewhere to stay that would really help! Couch surfing also appeals to me because as crew on the ship I have got used to being thrown together with lots of new people from all over the world, living in very close quarters and forming close friendships. I have loved getting to know all the different characters and now am addicted to travelling, finding new friends and sharing more stories - I'd much rather stay on the couch of a really cool person than be alone in a heartless hotel room!

I have a broad range in music taste, from rock and metal to folk, classical and jazz, to the cheezy classics. Some of my favourites include Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen, Laura Marling, Ensiferum, Led Zeplin, Refused, Gypsy Kings to name a few.
Books: adventure stories (E.g. lord of the rings), jane Austen, history, classics.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The most amazing thing I've done is, having never sailed before in my life, sail across the Atlantic from South Africa to France on a beautiful tall-ship and work my way on to becoming crew which was an unbelievable experience and a lifelong dream. But as I've already spoken about that, another cool thing I've done is hitch-hike from the UK to Morocco to raise money for Link Community Development.
