I've lived in Austin for almost 20 years now, and am originally from the Philadelphia area. Relatively new to couch surfing, and would like to give it a try. Both hosting, and also the next time I get to travel. Covid obviously paused all of this for a while.

I work in tech, live with my miniature pit bull Carson, and am looking forward to sharing my place and city.

I'm currently attempting to learn how to play the violin, and play a lot of soccer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hotels are impersonal and boring, even really nice ones. When I travel I want to meet folks that live there, understand the environment, and get a much more authentic and local experience to where I'm visiting.

I'd like to help travelers visiting Austin for the first time have a great time in this city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Rock, Metal, Blues, Hip Hop, Classical, I have a wide taste in music.
Movies: I appreciate a wide variety here. Typically enjoy movies the most that get outside of the genre norms. Few favorites: The Raid, Blade Runner 2049, Gladiator, Children of Men, City of God, Lord of the Rings, Interstellar.
Books: I really enjoy reading history. I read all kinds, and on a wide range of subjects. Recently read a single volume on the crusades. Super fascinating period, now I want to go visit Israel

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have my own house out in the suburbs of Austin. It's about a 20 minute drive to downtown Austin. Full spare bedroom that in available.

I can cook a mean breakfast, enjoy sharing my whiskey collection, and can make plenty of recommendations for what to do in town. If you want to know where the best trails are, bars/restaurants (especially BBQ), how to navigate local festivals (SXSW & ACL), I think I can be of service.
