About Me

Continue to open myself to life and all its wonders

Just your average easy going mature gay man, who loves new experences, and meeting and exchanging ideas with new people. Enjoy the outdoors, especially kayaking and hiking in our beautiful mountains, also love the Outer Banks for great beaches. A special treat is to get "lost" in the surrounding forest, find a stream or mountain view and just be.I also enjoy theater, musical performance, museums and visiting historical sites. I have lived in Asheville 20+ years, and enjoy sharing my city & region with others.

I strive for a simple life, want little, appreciate much. forgive easily. After years of not doing so, living a more honest life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I participate by hosting whenever possible, sharing my knowledge of the area. I have surfed 3 times now, each experience was different and enjoyable. .... To potential surfers, the more you share about yourself and the more we have in common, the more likely I am to host you. Join groups, get verified, offer to host etc. These steps will help show that your are not just looking for a free place to stay.

I have hosted 10-12 surfers and have surfed three times so far.

Like most..varied interests. Good conversation.good food, all types of music(almost), theater, dance, exploring the mountains that surround me. I also strive to add new experences, physically, sprituality, & emotionally to my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading about historical events and people. Most of the fiction I read is for escape. I like movies and books that make me laugh, think and maybe cry. ( confession time...I always cry when Peter Pan returns years later and Windy can't/won't return to Never Land, because she is older now, well past 21)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have done is to have survived this long. The things that stand out is camping on a small island and watching the sun rise out of the ocean in the morning only to return to the ocean at the end of the day, Viewing the panorama from Inspration Point in Yosemite. None of that compairs to wittnessing the birth of my 2 children.

Teach, Learn, Share

I greatly enjoy sharing on a number of topics, even better if you do not agree with me. It is difficult to discuss what I have to teach or learn. Every time we meet and talk with someone new we learn from them. We live in such large and diverse world always opportunities to learn from others. The best teaching and learning happens by living life and sharing with others.
