About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires."

ABOUT ME

When I was a kid about 12, I wrote a sort of self portrait with each letter of the alphabet. I just remember what I wrote for the first letter:
"A like Adventure, I want my life to be a big and amazing adventure"
So far I've been pretty adventurous, but I still want more..

I grew up between Marseille, Metz, Paris (France) and Oran (Algeria). I feel like a kite flying free, sometimes buffeted by the wind, falling, then rising again, on the whim of a passing breeze, but always soaring beautifully, catching the sunlight between clouds and reflecting it back again.

I just love Life and the World.

PHILOSOPHY

I'll try to say it with a few quotes :

-"Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls."

Music, Movies, and Books

I always find this kind of question hard as if everything I like is slipping my mind or as if there are too many:

Films that come to my mind right now : Paris-Texas, Jules and Jim, The Battle of Algiers, In the Mood for Love, Dead Man, Little Big Man, Into the Wild, A Woman Under the Influence, Do the Right Thing

TV show : Roots, Cosby Show, Fame

Books that influenced me as a kid : Oliver Twist, Le Petit Chose, Jack London's The Star Rover .... in my adult life, can't remember a favorite one... but remember books that expanded my consciousness like Frantz Fanon, Malcolm X, Angela Davis, Amadou Ampathe Ba, Kateb Yacine, Paolo Coehlo and I also love poets like Rumi, Mahmoud Darwish, Neruda, Eluard,

books on my list : some classics I am curious to read, like Dostoeivski, Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Kundera and others as various as James Campbell, Maya Angelou or Howard Zinn

Music : everything that moves me emotionally or physically. (I often dance on my own at home, especially in the dark)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Sleeping under a thousand stars like diamonds in the sky over the Sahara desert between Tamanrasset and the border of Mali, ... listening to Tuareg songs, poetry and gorgeous music with 1 violin, 1 ud, plastic containers, 1 spoon and a glass of tea ... meeting a lonely man on his camel in the middle of nowhere going after 3 camels that escaped and were returning to their land in Niger

- declaring my love in a sufi mosque in front of about 40 people to a beloved one

- watching the sunrise in the middle of the Nevada desert at the Burning Man festival in august 2008 and many other surreal visions

- going to New York with 50 dollars in my pocket and staying there for almost 5 years

- dreaming that I am talking to a fantastic creature who is half a woman and half a peacock and listening to her enigmatic message

- other enchanted dreams ...
