About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is simple; Live life easy going, love people, and most important, play music for everyone who wants to hear it.

ABOUT ME

My name is Niall (pronounced like Nile), I have a small hound dog, her name is Paisley, she is cute and very happy. I have been playing guitar and singing around northern California since around 9 years ago, doing small shows and open mics wherever I can ("Cornbread Kelly" on soundcloud). I haven't been able to travel much outside of northern California, though I've hitch-hiked almost all of the area.

PHILOSOPHY

POSITIVITY is key. Staying happy and positive are just two of the personal goals I strive for. There is too much love in the world to push it all away for anger and negative feelings. Also I refuse to drink booze from plastic bottles. Alcohol is something to be enjoyed, not something to waste your life on. Yeah I suppose I'm a pretty laid back guy. A personal quote of mine, "Life can be a breeze, you only have to live it that way."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love the socialization behind couch surfing and love to get out and see new things. I once spent two days in a small home in Eureka CA. The folks who took me in took me to an open mic that I now go to all of the time. On top of that, they took me to a beach far south of town that I had never been to, we ended up catching an amazing sunset on the edge of a rocky cliff.

Interests

I play guitar, music is a huge passion of mine. Also I love to write; I spent a year in college studying Journalism and English, and last year completed my first publish worthy short story. Silkscreening is something that I have been doing since early highschool and something that I have been able to turn into a working skill as well as a hobbie.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the blues, rock and roll, funk, reggea, folk, pretty much anything that makes ya feel good :) actually the only genre I have NO personal interest in is pop music, country pop to tween pop and everything between. I'll leave that stuff for the sheeple...I also love to read, big fan of beat poetry and novels, Burroughs, Bukowski, Kerouac, Hesse, Kesey, I could go on and on but generally love reading classics, especialy ones I've never heard of!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I took a survival trip with a friend of mine. We were heading to the top of a hill called "Shasta Bally," which we figured to be a three day hike at around 15-20 miles a day. We had full packs, even though we took less food than we planned needing, as to train ourselves to eat on a survival level. We ate alligator lizards for protein and lots of wild edibles like miners lettuce, wild mustard, the flowers from a manzinita, and even the root from a cattail that we found. After three days of grueling hiking, we had finally made it to the base of Shasta Bally, where my brother came to join us on the trip. The next day my brother and I hiked to the top of the bally in 6 hours, and came down in just two after getting elevation sickness and just plain overworking my body. However we made it back safe and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the outdoors, and have spent alot of time building fires, and other camp stuff like forts, teepees, debree shelters, lots of survival stuff :) I know some edible wild plants, though most wild edibles are specific to area, some to certain climates and temperatures, so I am always looking out to learn more about them. I play guitar alot, it is probably the thing that I am most knowlageable in, so that is something I am always willing to teach to anyone who wants to learn.
