My current mission is to complete a poetry workshop at Charles University in Prague.
People tell me I'm funny. I'm easy going; nothing ever really bothers me. I love the world and I love the way I see it--it's what I write about. I'm currently working on a collection of poems based on Iran. I enjoy dancing, being around as many people as possible, and sharing great conversations. I've spent most of my adult life working in the film business, caring for my best friend Sandra, a 93 year old lady who lived an incredible journey of a life, writing whenever I can, reading whenever time allows, and being around the people I love for as long as they will have me. Beyond this I have much more to learn; there is a world still waiting to be appreciated.
I don't really have one. I just keep working at what makes me happy, which, currently, is my MFA and pursuing my PhD.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My friend Sharon introduced me to the CS world. I am new and am still getting used to it. If I'm not traveling I am always here to host my global family--it's the best way to unite us; it's the best way to realize Marshall McLuhan's "Global Village"--or at least one of my interpretations of it.
I've spent weeks with friends around the states; I've slept on the floor most of the time, but I never minded my circumstances.
My interests are people; I enjoy being around them. I'm a writer, so, obviously, my main interest is the written word. I love stimulating literature and I enjoy good films every day. I am also interested in exploring--everything; observing as much of the world that I can possibly manage to see within my lifetime.
Music, Movies, and Books
This is tough for me. I love every kind of movie, all types of music, and I'll pretty much give every book a chance and, most often, find plenty to like about it (we must always consider the caliber of the book and make sure we read it within its intentions and not expect to find something that it doesn't promise; as long as we maintain that state of mind, we will seldom be disappointed.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once booked a white tiger for a music video on a dry lake bed outside of Las Vegas in Nevada. The opportunity to spend a day with this beautiful animal was amazing! To stand near it and smell it and touch it--it was sublime.
Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose the one thing I teach most people is patience. That is also something I am continually learning to extend and expand. I'd love to learn about people--about where they are from, what their history has shown them, what their families have taught them, how they view the world, how they view themselves, and how they think about the day when the open their eyes every morning.
