PHILOSOPHY
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed and I have hosted.
Surfing will probably take the back seat for the time being, I will focus on hosting for now.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So I've surfed my first 3 couches in Ireland, one couch in South Africa and one in Turkey...And it is awesome! This not only helps you to save a bit on your travels, but also you get to know people really quick.
I have hosted a CS'er during my road trip of 6 days. This was a great combo, we were both couch surfing and traveling together. I actually did not host her but my friends and family did, I was hoping the experience will open their eyes to the Couch Surfing world..and I think it did!
The thing I appreciate about couchsurfing is that it is all about giving and trust...the world could learn a thing or two here.
Interests
Well in short, anything sustainable gets my attention. I struggle to enjoy conversations that barely scrape the surface. I do like to give new/strange things a shot, just to broaden my interests.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music on the streets! - and boy, did I enjoy Ireland!!
A good book with some education/philosophy value..The Road Less Traveled(M. Scott Peck), Wild at Heart, Black Swan, Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and the sequels thereof
Movies - Almost all movies but my favorite is Into The Wild, The Way, Chloe and Theo, Papertowns
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It is difficult to choose one, so I'm going to share something that I did during couch surfing in Ireland..
I got a couch in Ogonnelloe, Ireland. I spend 4 days with the Ryan family on their farm. I then experienced how slow life can be if you just cut out the unnecessary worldly stuff. - I'm fascinated by the simple things in life I guess.
Oh, and in Turkey I watched my brother finish the "Sea 2 Sky" enduro race on top of Mount Olympus! That place is majestic! If you get quiet, the emotion starts boiling within.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well...I could maybe teach you a thing or two on South African Proteas and Fynbos.
Then if you want to learn a bit of Afrikaans or English, I can help with that.
Oh, and I enjoy a proper South African braai! Braai is like barbeque, but for men!
I love to learn about other cultures! So please share yours!
