About Me

I am a 43 years old teacher and amateur musician who have spent some time abroad, in Great Britain and Ireland mostly, and what I remember the most during my different trips is the people I met and the friendly time I spent with them. Of course I try to meet new people when I travel abroad. I find that this is the real purpose of travelling: finding out about different walks of life and sharing ideas, opinions, feelings and experiences. This is one of the most valuable gift of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was advised to log on to this site by a relative and I have found it is a very convenient and friendly way to meet new people. I enjoy meeting people, especially foreigners. Sharing experiences and ideas is an unvaluable gift of life.

Interests

I am interested in various subjects, primarily teaching English and playing music. I played in a local band, till very recently, and I am planning to set up a blues oriented band. I consider myself a life long learner and I could not imagine my life without being a musician.

I am also interested in litterature. Lately, I have not read much novels. The book I am reading now are related to Buddhist wisdom and psychology. But don't be afraid, I am not a weirdo or a depressed freak!

I also practise karate. But I am no Bruce Lee! :-)

I love travelling and I have travelled quite a lot, especially in Europe and mostly in Great Britain and Ireland. The craziest, funniest and most interesting experiences I have had in my life happened while travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

The list might be neverending: Blues (Robben Ford, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan), Jazz (Coltrane, Billie Holiday..), Soul music (Otis Rdding, Rock of all kinds (Hendrix, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, New Model Army, AC/DC, the Cure...), Celtic music......

I am fond of classic litterature like Shakespeare's plays, Oscar Wilde, Paul Auster, David Lodge but I couldn't name a favourite book.

My favourite film is probably " A white dry season" which is based on a novel by Andre Brink, a South African author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I toured Ireland itch hiking. What a laugh it was!

I also remember playing with a beautiful Scottish violin player in Oban while on a trip in Scotland. She had even brought a bottle of whisky for the gig!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I can teach English even though I am not a native. This my job actually: teaching kids English in a French secondary school.
I can teach the guitar, being a late intermediate guitar player.
Being french, I could also teach a bit of cooking...for people who have no knowledge whatsoever about the subject.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy meeting and chatting with new people, so I will be glad to have lively conversations with people from abroad. I will also enjoy to go out and have guests discover some areas in Paris which are not so much crowded with tourists. Some places that most tourists don't know about.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Croatia, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Réunion, Scotland, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, France
