My name is Nicole and I am pursuing my life long dream of travel around the world (putting that life long dream of being an astronaut to the side for a few years). I've had numerous jobs providing with an array of skills to give me the courage and strength to begin this awesome (and terrifying) journey! I started in January by driving across the USA; beginning in California and ending in Florida, then hoped over to Europe to zig zag around.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm Couchsurfing to save some coins while traveling city to city. I'm volunteering a lot, participating in work exchange programs, and also staying in hostels to help cut costs (did I mention I LOVE food???) on housing so I can spend more coins on other things. I have a few friends that are hosts for couchsurfers in central California, so I become more comfortable with the idea seeing their experiences and talking with travelers.
Traveling! Cooking! Enjoying a new cuisine! Food festivals! I prefer to walk around and see the world to find it's beauty in all the most traditional, and sometimes ignored places. I'm in the process of learning more about modern Buddhism (possibly become one) so my head is buried in a book/internet from time to time
Music, Movies, and Books
I sing random tones all the time. I was a nanny for 2+ years professional (but have always done it as a side job) and kids love music. So I became very vocal. I love the 80s though!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just to name one amazing thing I've done?? Wow that's hard. Haha well I would have to say the one amazing thing I've done...... learned to scuba dive! I absolutely love the ocean. In my family you learned to swim before walking. I played with more fishing poles than Barbie's. My parents are very outdoors (gardeners-diver-fisherman-hunters etc) and started training me at a very young age. While in college pursuing a bachelors degree in Marine Biology, I challenged (still need LOTs of practice) my skills by working on a scuba diving charter vessel for three years!!!! I've seen so much and want to see more.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn new things. I love to share what I've learn.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook. I'm kind of an introvert and stick to myself, but I do enjoy a good conversation over a meal. I'm not a partier and I don't drink more than 1 beer or wine. I don't prefer to be around people whom drink heavily. No offense, no judgment, just not my preference.
