About Me

Hey :) I have mixed feelings about these big empty "About me" spaces. It's a great way to get creative and interesting, but I also find the task a little daunting... here goes!
Born and bred Puerto Rican♥ =D but I would like to consider myself a citizen of the world, because I love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures. I'm shy, but only at first ;) I blush very easily :$ I love to read, dance, sleep, eat, walk/jog/run, play the piano, smile, laugh. I always try to put myself in other people's shoes. I believe community service/volunteer work is something every individual should do. I'm very family-oriented, and my friends are dear to me. I'm prone to melancholy and nostalgia, but other times I'm a regular cheerleader :D I can be a risk-taker and a worry-wart, at the same time. I consider myself "culturally Catholic" and "spiritually syncretic"; I believe every religion has something to offer, to I try to take a little piece of everything. I also have a tendency to explain a lot of what I do, as you can see lol... I'm in love with life, with all its ups and downs, being the roller coaster that it is. I try to appreciate the good, learn from the bad-and NOT be bitter/jaded about it. I'm not naive, though. I know we as people, as human beings, are equally capable of the cruelest, most horrible act, as well as the kindest, most selfless one, yet I know it sounds cheesy, but I try my best to live by The Golden Rule. I know others do as well... I hope that, day by day, more people do too... ♥ :)

Give people the benefit of the doubt. Never lose hope. Always do your best. You learn something new everyday. Your past is supposed to make you better, not bitter. Life is better when you're laughing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if it counts as "amazing", but I went to Ukraine in summer of 2010. It was a trip of several "firsts": 1rst time traveling completely alone, 1rst time using my passport, 1rst time being in a country whose official language is neither Spanish nor English. It may not seem like much, but I was quite excited and intimidated. I volunteered at a kids' summer camp, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience, playing with them, teaching them English and Spanish, learning Ukrainian and Russian.
