About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to decide what to do with the rest of my life....

ABOUT ME

After travelling for many years, I needed a place to stay for a while and decide what to do with the rest of my life. When I was in my twenties, I frantically backpacked from place to place, feeling that I had to see everywhere to taste the different experiences the world has to offer. I stayed as long as I wanted to, making friends and a life before getting itchy feet and up and moving on. It was stimulating and educational, making it blatantly obvious that human beings are actually all the same. Give us something to eat, a roof over our heads, someone to love and be loved by and a family and everything else is just a bonus.
Last year, I decided on Dubai to mull over my options as I grew up here and have so many fond memories of feeling happy and safe as a child. And I love it! CS fits my outlook on meeting people, I'm used to striking up friendships quickly and enjoy being constantly surprised when someone on first glance turns out to be very different to how you imagined. We all have a story to tell and it's fun getting to know what makes someone unique.

PHILOSOPHY

I find that if you treat people with respect they almost always treat you the same back. I don't judge anyone for their beliefs and please don't judge me for mine!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined a walk in Sharjah last weekend and met so many like-minded people I realised that CS was where I needed to be.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not yet, hoping to have many excellent experiences.

Interests

People and what makes us tick, languages, watching a great TV series back-to-back, a spot of sunbathing every now and again, reading trashy novels (!), running (when I can motivate my lardy arse), a nice cold pint of beer, laughing uncontrollably at something stupid, cooking, eating and of course travelling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was travelling through Cambridge in England and got chatting to someone. Turned out he was someone important in King's College and I got invited to dinner where I sat next to him at the head table. Fantastic evening which I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an English teacher and have taught for many years in lots of different countries. I love teaching and a always willing to advise if anyone has any English questions.
After travelling for many years, I know how to do it cheaply. Just ask.
