About a year ago I left my little town behind me and moved to the city of Antwerp.

Maybe you think I’ve been stuck in my village for too long but that’s not the case. I worked for a long time in the Middle East and Israel. This gave me a much bigger perspective on the world. The cultural differences have often left me completely dumbfounded!

But that was my life until a year ago. Now I have a steady job. Yeah, that sounds boring and sometimes I too need to break out of the daily routines. Last summer I wanted to see something of the world again, so I decided to do some voluntary work in Cuba. I spent my time smoking smelly cigars, swinging a pickaxe into rocks like the prisoners in the movie (I wasn’t cuffed and chained though :P) and getting ripped off by cowboys. But most of all I enjoyed to hear the raw and pure opinion of the Cubans about their country. This is something they only dared to talk about when you had their trust and when nobody else was around.

Actually I haven’t explained yet what I do for a living. Well, I do ‘stuff’ with computers. Don’t worry though, I won’t delve into the technical details. Actually I kind of started up my own little business on which I work every single day. My biggest dream at the moment is to grow this out and become totally self-reliant.

Oh yeah, I do the gym thing as well…all I need is a bunch of iron to lift from the ground. I just love to break my records. Except for the winter. Even before any snow has fallen, me and my friends already booked our snowboarding trip in the mountains. We have so much fun. The adrenaline you feel when you go down the steep slopes…it’s worth the occasional mouthful of snow :P

I am planning to travel the world in 2016-2017.

I think the best way to prepare myself is to offer my couch to other travelers :-) I hope to meet lots of wonderful people from all over the world!
