About Me

I am currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh studying Industrial Engineering. I grew up in the city of Pittsburgh, which is a medium sized city in the US. Fun fact about Pittsburgh is that it actually has the most bridges in the world, beating up venice by three. I have two brothers, one older and one younger. I really love sports, mainly lacrosse and soccer. My parents have always pushed me to experience as much as this world has to offer, and thus, I absolutely love traveling!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I love the idea of meeting new people and really getting an understanding of the culture of the place you are staying in. While sightseeing and doing the touristy things are great, I think the Couchsurfing always for a fuller traveling experience. Just having one or two meaningful conversations with the host, getting to meet someone new, sounds way more appealing to me than staying in a hostel or hotel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I volunteered in the Dominican Republic for two weeks teaching spanish and English literacy to underprivileged youth. It was such a rewarding an incredible experience. We worked everyday at the camps from 9-5. The kids were amazing and I learned so much about the culture and myself during my time there. I plan on volunteering again soon with the same organizations but in Nicaragua. If you are extremely interested in my time there I wrote an article for my former high school: http://www.slshs.org/apps/news/show_news.jsp?REC_ID=322936&id=0

Teach, Learn, Share

What I Can Share with Hosts

Although I am only 19 and my time to travel has on just begun, I have already traveled and volunteered in a few countries. I'd absolutely loved to share my experiences with a host and would be more than happy to answer any questions they had for me. Additionally, I consider myself extremely outgoing and light-hearted. I would love to have conversations with hosts and simply enjoy my time with them.
