About Me

ABOUT ME October 2017

For the last 3 years I have been travelling in various parts of the world principally staying and working with hosts on the exchange organisation workaway. (If you search for:   ' StillCurious - workaway' you will find my profile and several reviews from projects that I've stayed with).
I have always believed that all of us share the same hopes and fears irrespective of our culture or religion, and travelling via workaway and couchsurfing enables me to meet people in their everyday environment to share our experiences and dreams.

"Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world." (Gustave Flaubert)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At various moments in my life and in various countries I have slept under the stars, farm buildings, 5 star & 1 star hotels, doss houses, and other people's homes. I would like to think I have offered, and I have certainly received, overwhelming hospitality and goodwill.

Music, Movies, and Books

I thought 'The Tin Men & 'The White Ribbon' were wonderful films, I thought 'Mama Mia' was the most stupid film of the decade.
I read anything and everything, from Ruth Rendell, Ann Tyler, to The Biographies of Oliver Cromwell and Napoleon (both heroes of mine) !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When hitch hiking on my own through Yugoslavia (50 years ago) I 'thumbed' an old man on a horse and cart. He stopped, I climbed on board, we drank 'firewater', laughed a lot, waved our hands in the air by way of communicating and after several miles his horse turned left of it's own accord and stopped. I got down, we waved goodbye, and I realised that the world was a marvellous place.

Teach, Learn, Share
