- Australian
- travelling by myself for a year
- focussing predominantly on France for 2012, but of course I would love to see as many places as possible!
- freckly
- taller than people expect
- heaving around a pack that is heavier than airline requirements
- always on the lookout for a new experience/to try something new
- sometimes funny
- pretty good at swearing in French

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never done CouchSurfing before, but I've been getting around using lots of AirBnB, HouseTrip and hostelling. I've also been WWOOFing and HelpXing extensively this trip.
I've lived in a sharehouse, so know what it is to share a house with people you don't really know.

Interests

I love books and cheese. A combination of the two is best, if possible.
Here is a summary of some things that make me happy:
- rain on the roof
- cats sleeping on my feet
- french R-sound at the end of 'voiture'
- when your stomach drops at take-off
- gothic architecture
- riding bikes on cobblestones
- pulpy orange juice
- squeezing the last glob of toothpaste out of the tube
- fog between dramatic mountains
- a decent croissant and a coffee

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I like the little details in everyday life, but some highlights of my travels thus far include:
- a four-hour trek into the lush Sumatran jungle to see orangutans in their natural habitat
- a five-course dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris
- a gondola ride on Christmas Day with an authentic Venetian
- a drive into the Black Forest where I saw snow falling for the first time
- a mindblowingly scenic two-hour bus ride from Ajaccio into the Corsican mountains
