About Me

to learn, to write and experience..

Friendly, open, passionate, curious, creative, unusual (in a good way of course!),and an entertaining amateur dancer .

We live through language. Misunderstandings are just as important as understandings.
However serious or mature people may seem, they will always be children, as uncertain and capable as anyone...

Art is political. Even when it thinks it isn't.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

None as yet because I just found out about it! But I hope this is the beginning of many new experiences.

I'm a performer (theatre, puppetry, film, music), poet and studying for a Phd at Birkbeck College about 'The performance of Finnegans Wake (by James Joyce)'. Aside from making performances and writing I like to go out and find new experiences and people - whether this leads to dancing into the morning or having inspiring conversations. I want to practise my fledgling Italian and German, so meeting people with other languages is always important. Otherwise I also like art, theatre, music, wine and good food - but who doesn't?

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a vast and diverse collection on my ipod so in short: Electronica and IDM (Autechre, Aphex Twin, Actress, Squarepusher etc), rock (pearl jam , smashing pumpkins, deftones etc), post-rock (godspeed, dirty three, explosions in the sky, exhaust), experimental/avant-garde etc(The Bordedoms, Alog and most things on Rune Grammofon, Jenny Hval...), Jazz (Miles, Coletrane, Ornette, Eric Dolphy, Pharoh Sanders...), metal (Sunn O))), Earth, Napalm Death) ... lately I've been listening to a lot of Kindness, Adriano Celentano, John Talabot and Father John Misty plus any kind of intense dance music (house, trance, dubstep, glitch, microhouse....) --- there's too much music!

Books: (stuff I've been reading lately)

Clarice Lispector, Christine Brooke-Rose, Paul Virilio, Vincente Huidobro, Cesar Vellajo, Italo Calvino, Dante, James Joyce, Karl Marx, David Graeber, Jacques Ranciere, Flann O'Brien, Alfred Bester, John Cage, Theodor Adorno, Giorgio Agamben, Kurt Schwitters, Konrad Bayer, Samuel Beckett, Henri Michaux, Jean Louis Borges, Alfred Jarry, Arno Schmidt, Petrarch .... and so on

Roy Andersson (You, the living + Songs from the second floor), Jodorowski (El Topo + Holy Mountain), Bergman, Fellini, John Waters, Lars von Trier, Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, Man on Wire,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan - watching Jupiter trace the sky as I struggled to sleep amongst the red mountains and sand.
Seeing (experiencing) the doom-drone-metal band Sunn O))) live has left me literally aweSTRUCK on a couple of occasions too -
